General Info

Guabiju is native to South America where it is widely cultivated for its edible fruits. The leaves have medicinal value, while the plant itself is quite ornamental.

35’ - 60’ tall in its native range.

Growing Conditions

Full sun or partial shade. Plants are slow growing

Years to Fruit

Guabiju can fruit in as little as 4 years, but it can take longer.

Taste

Fruits are said to be quite tasty with a unique flavor, sort of like jaboticaba.

Climate

Sub-Tropical, tropical at higher elevations

Cold Tolerance

Mature trees are said to be quite cold tolerant, handling down to 20F according to some reports.
